Arsenal’s Alarming Predicament: Beyond Title Woes

Arsenal’s Premier League Title Hopes Fade as They Struggle to Score and Risk Slipping Out of the Top Four

Arsenal’s pursuit of the Premier League title appears to be fading as they dropped more points in their recent matches. The Gunners fell 11 points behind league leaders Liverpool after losing to West Ham, while the Reds beat Manchester City. The situation has only worsened, with Arsenal now 13 points behind Liverpool following their 0-0 draw at Nottingham Forest and the Reds’ 2-0 victory over Newcastle United.

Arsenal legend Martin Keown, speaking after the Nottingham Forest match, expressed his concerns that the Gunners are now at risk of something worse than just missing out on the title. Keown stressed that Arsenal cannot “throw it all away” just because they’re now extremely unlikely to win the championship.

Arsenal Risk Slipping Out of the Premier League Top Four

Keown warned that Arsenal risk slipping out of the top four altogether if they don’t get back on the goalscoring trail. The Gunners legend emphasized that “if they don’t score goals there is a danger that they might slip out of the top four.”

Keown believes that despite the disappointment of not winning the title, Arsenal must still focus on securing a top-four finish. He said, “Just because you can’t be champions doesn’t mean that you throw it all away.” The former Arsenal defender stressed the importance of the Gunners securing a Champions League spot for next season, stating, “They must win” their upcoming match against Manchester United.

Keown’s Critique of Arsenal’s Attacking Options

Keown admitted that Arsenal’s front three of Leandro Trossard, Mikel Merino, and Ethan Nwaneri has really weakened the team. The former Gunner believes this attacking lineup has “crippled the team” and prevented them from finding solutions to break down Nottingham Forest’s solid defense.

Despite Arsenal’s 65% possession, Keown said, “They could not find the solutions at the top of the team.” He concluded that with the options available to them, “that is no surprise in the end.”

The Gunners will look to bounce back in their upcoming fixtures, including a Champions League match against PSV Eindhoven and a crucial Premier League clash against Manchester United.

Call to Action:
As Arsenal face a challenging road ahead, it’s crucial for the team and their supporters to maintain focus and determination. The Gunners must find a way to rediscover their goalscoring touch and secure a top-four finish to ensure their continued presence in the Champions League. With the right adjustments and a renewed sense of purpose, Arsenal can still salvage a successful season and keep their loftier ambitions alive.
